Thank you for your interest in SJNA Drama Club!
Registration is now closed, and we looked forward to our May production of
"The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"!!

Welcome to St. John Neumann Academy's Drama Club
*This is specifically for currently enrolled SJNA students

Please watch this video BEFORE reading the following information, or registering.

Thank you!

WHAT: Drama Club is an after school program where students will learn theatre technique through high energy and interactive instruction, and put on an entire production!!

Drama Club is Mondays, beginning January, 30th through Monday, May 22nd. 3:15pm-5:00pm

The production date is Tuesday, May 23rd. However, this is subject to change and may be the week prior due to snow days. Please be mindful of this when looking at your schedule.

The cost for this club is $195/student. This covers all materials and logistics of putting on this production!

Since this semester is a published play, there is a cost to order the scripts. This cost is covered in your tuition, but there is an extra $10 fee, if scripts are lost or damaged. Take care of your script!

WHO: This program is open to 2nd through 8th graders. All students must be in good standing to participate.

There are only 15 spaces available!! Registration is first come, first serve. Registration will close when spots are filled, or on January 27th.

PRODUCTION: The production will be "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" Adapted by Don Quinn from C.S Lewis' story. This is an abbreviated version of the full play.

Each actor will have lines to memorize, costumes, work with props and sets, and be expected to practice their part (and MEMORIZE) at home.

Please understand that while this club does not hold auditions in the formal sense, this particular production does have lead roles. What does this mean? It means some actors will have more lines than others.'

Also, since this is a production full of characters, and we tend to have more ladies in drama club, some actors may be asked to portray a male character.

INSTRUCTORS: Joelle Shenk has been teaching, directing, and producing children's and youth theatre in the NRV since 2009, and elsewhere long before that! She is excited to bring her love of theatre back to St. John's!

Kayla Smith has also been teaching and acting in the NRV even before Joelle! They have worked together for over 10 years, and are excited to collaborate on yet another production!

I'm interested in registering. Now what?

YOU NEED TO KNOW: Commitment

  • Drama club begins Monday, January 30th from 3:15pm-5:00pm @ St. John Neumann's. It will run EVERY Monday, unless the school is closed due to holiday or snow. Please make sure the dates and times work for you prior to registering.

  • Production is Tuesday, May 23rd. However, this date is subject to change due to snow days.

  • If your actor must miss a class, please email or call Joelle. 540-230-5084

  • If more than two classes are missed, you may be asked to schedule a make up session to catch your actor up. This will be at an additional cost of $25/30min. session, and take place at an alternate studio.

  • Drama Club and theatre is a ton of fun, but it's also a lot of work. That's great! Your hard work will pay off in an epic production! Please know that you need to work on your part at home, and memorize your lines. During Drama Club you will learn ALL sorts of theatre technique, and what to do when you say your lines. Are you willing to commit to that? You are? GREAT!

I'm ready! Let's register!
This club is limited to 15 participants.
